Find Fulfillment, Passion, and Love in Your Relationship
Hi, I’m Sam Troemel, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and sex therapist. I work with couples to untangle the tender, complex, and often unspoken parts of sex, intimacy, and connection—especially when shame, silence, or stuck patterns have gotten in the way.
I specialize in working with LGBTQ+ couples, trans and nonbinary partners, and those in polyamorous or non-monogamous relationships. Whatever your structure or identity, I offer a space where you can show up fully as yourselves and build a relationship that feels safe, strong, and secure.
Using Emotionally Focused Therapy and the Gottman Method, I help couples break free from painful cycles and create a relationship where you can turn toward each other with confidence, knowing you have each other’s back. Together, we’ll explore how to transform your relationship into a secure base—from which each of you can grow and thrive—and a safe haven, offering comfort and connection in times of distress.
If you’re longing to deepen your bond, I’m here to help you build something resilient, connected, and real, one conversation at a time.
Outside the therapy room, I’m usually tending to my chickens 🐓 or hanging out with my pets.
I’m so glad to be here and excited to work with you.

What’s the first step?
No phone tag, no back and forth, just book a short Zoom call with me so I can learn more about you and your relationship (all partners seeking counseling should be a part of this call).
Do you have in-person availability?
Yes, only the initial call is virtual, after that you can come to our office at 2002 Atwood Avenue. We can also do a combination of in-person and virtual to meet your needs.
What are counseling sessions like?
The first few sessions involve understanding the history of your relationship, getting more information about the concerns you have, and meeting with each partner individually. After that, sessions focus on helping you interact and relate with your partner in new and different ways that help you connect and feel more emotionally intimate, safe, and secure.
How often and how long will we meet?
While each relationship has unique needs, the majority of people meet with me weekly, or once every other week. The duration of work is flexible, with the goal being that you put into practice the skills and methods that we are using in session. There is no set number of sessions or session limit.
